GOLF AGENDA 2012 PLUS

Dear Golfers

AGENDA 2012 AND BEYOND

Greetings from the starter’s box, we hope this letter finds you in a good shape and swing to Tee off our agenda for the year and looking forward. We give you our gratitude for bestowing on us  the “honour” of steering our golf schedule for the calendar year 2012.  We hope to serve you diligently, with professionalism while employing state of the art technologies & ideas where practically possible. My team comprises of:

  1. JOSHUA ASHIOYA-CAPTAIN
  2. JULIUS OKETCH-VICE CAPTAIN
  3. JAMES MUNDIA-HANDICAP MANAGER.
  4. HESBON LITALI-GREENS KEEPER.

This team has been deliberating and brainstorming on a number of Agendas that we intend to pursue during our term in office. You will be glad to note that we have already shared the idea with the clubs top organs (The Management Committee –MC) who have already flagged us off to make activity plans and prioritize actions for immediate implementation. The Agenda includes but IS NOT limited to the following;

  1. Kakamega Junior Golf Academy-(KJGF)- The Kakamega Junior golf academy will exist to provide today’s youth with an opportunity to experience the game of a lifetime. Our golfing department will be committed to creating and maintaining a golf program geared to introducing youngsters to golf facilities and exposing them to valuable life skills such as Respect, Integrity, Character and Honor (RICH). We intend to provide an environment where a junior golfer, male or female can enjoy golf and progress at his or her own rate from beginner to a proficient level while promoting and preserving the traditions and integrity of the game. By being committed to this purpose, Kakamega Junior golf Academy will build its reputation as being one of the best in preparing junior golfers for the future in Kenya.
  2. Quarterly Golf Magazine-We intend to shape the profile of our golfing fraternity by showcasing the potential of our golf facilities, talent and exceptional golfing skills we have. Through this magazine however, we shall be able to raise revenue for the club by inviting the business community in and around Kakamega to market their products and services.
  3. Kakamega Golf Clinics: We intend to reach out to our corporate and institutional friends in Kakamega and beyond by inviting them to have a corporate day where their staff can be trained on basic golfing skills in liaison with local professionals.  This could be a very affordable team building activity from which we hope to tap new golf players.
  4. Golf recruitment Subsidies: We are working a formula with the MC where golfers can have their annual subscription subsidized on the basis of a number of fully paid up  golfers they have brought on board. We observe that currently there is limited motivation  for bringing in a new player but we hope with this strategy you can tap your neighbors’ shoulder.
  5. Club Night/Casino subsidies: In  a bid to encourage players to participate in local CASINO’s and club nights, we are in the  process of designing a formula where exceptional golf display in any of the aforementioned competitions in a period of time can result in the player not paying for a certain number of Club nights or Casinos.
  6. Adopt A hole- We are glad that this has been going on, credit to the outgoing team.  However, we intend to professionalize this by inviting corporate institutions, business community and our own golfers to adopt holes which they can then use to advertise their products and services. We shall stipulate a standardized format to ensure equity in the system. But as you reckon, this greatly depends on us securing our course since at the moment only hole 1/10 is  semi secure.
  7. Golfer of the year Award (GOTY)-We aim to liaise with credible sponsors to reward outstanding talent at the end of the year. This could be done through cumulative points grading of club nights, casinos, local and regional tournaments.
  8. The new club house will offer us an opportunity to establish a pro shop. We will soon invite bids for those interested in running the pro shop. This will be based on performance criteria and a contract to be signed between the Management Committee and the vendor. Watch this space.

To move things forward and bring about inclusivity and team work based on the Chairman’s pillars of Innovation, Change and Development we will soon establish sub-committees pegged on the above action areas. We ask for your continued co-operation, advice and support to help our club  GO WEST GROW AND ENJOY.

YOURS IN  SERIOUS SERVICE
